Drywall vs. our EverLast Walls

When finishing the basement, it is important to know everything there is to know about the products used in the basement. There is a huge difference between drywall and our EverLast walls. Basements are known to have more moisture than the rest of the home. If drywall is used to finish the basement, it will absorb the basement moisture and attract mold. Once this happens, all of the materials will need to be replaced. Our basement finishing products were designed to be used in the basement, and are waterproof and mold proof. By using our products to finish the basement, you can be sure the project will be done the right way the first time.

Cons of putting drywall in the basement:

  • Drywall is made of organic materials, so if water ever gets into the basement it won’t just get damaged, but moldy too.
  • When moisture comes through the foundation wall, the insulation behind the drywall gets wet. When insulation gets wet it gets heavy, and then it will sink down to the floor like wet cotton candy. This leaves no insulation between the foundation wall and the drywall.
  • Once the insulation sinks, the moisture coming through the foundation wall collects on the drywall giving mold the perfect condition to grow.
  • If mold is starting to grow on the drywall, you will not be able to tell because you can't see the backside of the drywall. Once the mold that is growing on the drywall is noticeable, it will be too late to fix the problem that caused the mold to grow.
  • Once the drywall gets damaged and/or mold is growing on it, all of it will have to be ripped out and replaced.
  • Drywall is installed with wooden studs, which are composed of organic materials. When the wooden studs come in contact with moisture, mold is given the perfect condition to grow.
  • 50% of the air that you breathe throughout your home comes from the basement. If there is mold in the basement, then your family could be breathing mold spores throughout the home.

Pros of Buck Buckley’s Total Basement Finishing’s EverLast walls:

  • The EverLast walls are not made of organic materials, and they are moisture and mold resistant. If water ever gets into the basement, the walls will not be damaged and mold will not grow.
  • The insulation is directly attached to the back of the EverLast walls, so it will never sink due to moisture coming through the foundation wall.
  • The EverLast walls are installed with metal studs instead of wooden studs. This way mold will not grow if the studs come in contact with moisture.
  • The EverLast walls will not have to be ripped out and replaced due to water damage.
  • The EverLast walls have a 50-year warranty.
